Tree Swallow
by Dennis Plank
The Swallows started returning here while we were still in Monterey, but they've really been coming in ove the last week. The fog started letting some sun sift through yesterday morning, so I went out to see what I could make of it. A few of the swallows are starting to get used to us/remember us from last year so they let me get reasonably close. This was one of them and the old split rail it perched on is starting to get some nice character. The background is the still fog shrouded Douglas firs probably 700 feet away.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/8, 1/800, iso 1000, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped from a horizontal original to a 4x5 vertical with just a bit off the top, final size was 10.4 MP. Taken at 8:33 am yesterday (I really need to change the time on the camera).
