Spring is Nigh

I had visited our local bakery for an apple turnover and a cup o' Joe. It was very cloudy and cold (for me, anyway) so I started homeward. I noticed some nice breaks in the cloud cover and some spots of sunshine hitting this oak forest. I decided to stop and see what I could do. I managed to make this image and one more before the clouds socked in again.

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated. cool

That tree has some nice character lines and the dappled light in the foreground and the patchy blue skies compliment the scene nicely.  Nicely done!

Preston, you caught the timing of those clouds really well. The clouds are very dramatic and add a lot to this image. I love the processing of this image, you did a great job of capturing the dynamic light in this scene. The light splashing across the green grass really makes this image pop. My only nit is that I wish there was a little more space to the left of the tree, but not being there I don't know if something distracting is just to the left of the tree.

Preston, The larger version looks great! It is such an inviting scene for me and it just makes me want to be there so I can wander around and enjoy the area. I like the light alot and what a great sky for this shot. A naturally beautiful look and feel to this.
I like apple turnovers too and especially with a good cup of coffee. cool

This scene has a wonderful relaxing feel to it, Preston. The processing looks spot on and the large version displays some lovely details and textures and the lighting is perfect for this scene. I also love the character of these oaks, I never acquired a taste for coffee, but that apple turnover sure sounds good. cool

That definitely looks like spring!!  (That's not what it looks like around my home, though. sad )
For me, it is just so nice to see that splash of green grass and the blue sky..........yeah, someday the snow will melt.  I like  your comp.

A turnover? Running low on cookies??sad  Nice oak image. I am with Ed about the left side feeling a little tight, but certainly not an image killer. I might burn the white rocks? lower left edge and between the trees. Nice capture.

Here in MD, spring was happening 3 weeks ago.  Since then we've had a continuous series of cold, windy, and sometimes snowy days.  Will you please send some spring this direction?  Preston, this is a fine look at this shapely oak with the grasses below greening up well.  It looks very attractive.  I could see cropping about half of the sky (to 8 x 11) to emphasize the tree a bit more, but you may be going for more sky to give more weight to the weather...artists's choice on a nicely inviting view.
