Plum Island's Sand Art -redo

Plum Island is in Massachusetts, recently we had a huge Nor'easter storm that tore up the shore along the coast. I thought the colors in the sand at Sandy Point Beach was from pollution but when I posted the image to the Plum Island page I was told the purple is cause when storms beat on the sand and separate the heavy garnet crystals from the sand. Now I know why they call it Plum Island.

Also just installed the new version of Photoshop so hope I saved images correctly size wise.

Very interesting abstract and explanation, Norma. For a bit more abstract approach you could also crop out or clone that lighter wedge at bottom right. Really nice find.

Norma, nice colors in this abstract, a good bit of seeing on your part. The diagonal flow to it is interesting. To my taste, the colors look natural, and not oversaturated.

I've been visiting Plum Island for almost 30 years and never knew the origin of the name. I always assumed it related to having some plum trees on the island, so thanks for the real origin of the name.

Excellent abstract. The colors and texture of the sand are very appealing to me. I would probably clone out a couple of the dark spots.devil

Interesting story, never would have thought that was the origin. Great colors and textures. Might crop the dark rigjt edge, or maybe try brightening it a little so it is more uniform with the rest of the image. Beauty.

I have taken out th black areas and lightened the corners and brightened it a bit. Thank you for those suggestions.

Beautiful image with good textures and colors. There's a nice flow to this. You could rotate this 90 deg CW as well.

Nice colors and patterns.  My preference would the darker version but with the black spots removed as in your repost.  Must have been a fun beach to explore for abstracts.

This is a fine abstract. The texture and especially the muted color is very nice. There are a couple of white spots top right, and a couple of dark spots on the left that you might clone out. Also, you might consider burning down that bit in the lower right corner. Nice image as presented, though.

WOW.  Gorgeous colors and textures.  Has to be seen large to be fully appreciated.

EDIT - I didn't see the report until after I had posted, but I like it much better than the original.
