White over Black Waters

Thanks for your comments on my previous canyon image.  Here is a second image from the recent snowy morning in Oak Creek Canyon.  This needs a slight ccw rotations as the reflections indicate, but then the more visually dominant varnish stripes on the red cliff face look slanted and unnatural.  So it became a question of aesthetics over technicalities.  I was surprised at how dark the water appears with the overcast lighting.

This is so stunning, just superb IMHO. I like this one better than the last. What a wonderful morning that must have been. I can almost feel your excitement coming through these images. No nits at all, neither about technicalities or any other thing. I would love to have this hanging on my wall!

Beautiful! I love the red wall with the snow contrasting it. Looks good to me without any rotation. Real sweet.

Very nice.  Snow, red rock, and flowing water with reflections work well with this comp. Well done.......................Jim

Another great shot from you trip up the canyon.  Maybe brightening the water areas a little?  I think you could increase the vibrance or sat. a little and still be far from overdoing it.  Great timing.

Have to agree with Kathy. This is exceptional and better than the previous one. I particularly like the reflections. A square crop of the bottom part of the image would make a fine image as well.

This is really well done.  Your photographic I in this image zoned right in to the perfect compositional balance of light and dark.  Great textures.

A really stunning image Doug. You hit the jackpot with the snow conditions, but what really makes this shot a winner for me is how carefully you thought out the composition. I agree with Igor, the reflection in the bottom third would make another fine image in it's own right. I hope you played around taking a lot of different compositions that day, when you get amazing conditions like this you gotta try all kinds of stuff. Great image !!!

Beautiful.  Wonderful composition.  The contrast of the red rock, dark water, and snow is great.  I would consider this to be fine art photography.

That's a very beautiful scene Doug.  I might be tempted to raise the brightness of the reflected portion just a tiny wee bit as initially from the thumbnail image I thought you had too much river below.  It was only when I opened it fully I appreciated the reason that you had included as much at the base of the image.  Very beautiful, red and white works so well in a scenic

Absolutely gorgeous scene, Doug, and well captured.  Love the snow with the red rocks, and the reflections is icing on the cake.

Thanks for the feedback.  The bump in saturation seems to be a recurring theme ;-)
