Elephant Roadblock

This young bull, who is in musth, decided to take ownership of the road. After a few minutes of standoff, our guide decided to slowly inch ahead. Upon seeing that we would not give way, the elephant decided that discretion was the better part of valor and stepped aside. Once we were comfortably past, he did decide to let out a loud trumpet and make a false charge.
I'm always amazed at the composure of the trackers who sit within inches of African wildlife. Taken with a Nikon D 750, 24-120 lens at f/11, 1/500 and ISO 400.

Wow...methinks this was a "bit" too close for the driver!

Too close, IMO, especially with a heated male!  I've seen elephants flip over larger cars than this vehicle, when they felt threatened.
At any rate, a very interesting image.

Neat photo!  I can appreciate the situation, had a similar one on my African trip last month, only it was 2 females.  TFS
