Excellent portrait and framing, Sandy, and a fine perch.

A wonderful composition with a beautiful perch, Sandy. In the larger image, the bird looks just a bit oversharpened to my eye.

Nice pose and perch. On my monitor it seems to have somewhat of a painterly effect. From my perspective this would be more effective without the red frame which draws my eye more to the frame instead of the bird. Is the background sky and clouds?

David, I was aiming for a "painterly" effect; thanks for commenting on this.
The lower BG is blurred wood, rocks, and the dry branches of Southern Arizona, and the upper BG is the perfectly-overcast sky.

Nice crest up pose, eye contact and an excellent head turn. Good detail in the larger version. Not a fan of the frame.

Perfect pose from the Pyrrhuloxia Sandy. Great capture and I agree about the painterly feel to it. I'd like to see these someday, very cool bird. You captured it well.
