Mathering the Storm

With snow in the forecast, I headed to the Grand Canyon as our winter has been meek and mild so far.  At sunrise, the canyon was filled with fog, but within a couple of hours, gaps in the clouds were ushered by quickly by the winds.  Light snow was seen to have accumulated to just below the redwall.  Conditions were constantly changing throughout the day, which made photography enjoyable even in the wind, cold, and blowing snow.

These are some awesome conditions. Composition is well balanced with interest throughout. Fine as framed but maybe would be nice to have just a bit more room at bottom. Also, very minor, but I could see cloning or cropping that sliver of evergreen showing in the bottom right corner.

Lots of drama in the clouds and mist.  No real suggestions, just enjoying the snow and red rock mix.  I imagine you would have included more of the trees at the bottom if that was a possibility - the rim can be a difficult place to compose.  SNow is gold.

Gorgeous my kind of soft winter light that I find particularly enthralling.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.  This was as wide as the 24-70 would go and has not been cropped.  I will see what a clone-out of the LRC tree looks like. Ian, you are right about that kind of light.

Fantastic combination of fog and snow, especially the powdering on the trees.

Great mood to the image and way to take advantage of the conditions. I agree with the comments about more room at the bottom, but it sure is not an image killer at all. Real nice.

This is really nice.  Even with the fog, you get a real sense of distance and depth.  I like the subtle colors in this. Those cracks really show up with the snow, and it sure makes those rocks look like they are ready to fall apart!  Nice one.
