Snowy Towhee

It was sunny today after several days of white snow here in the Pacific Northwest.  I caught this Spotted Towhee in strong but not too harsh sidelight.  I wish it had showed up a little earlier when the light was better but my bird remote control is not working.  The crop might be too tight for some people.

Iso-800, 200-500 at 500 mm, F8, 800th, D 500, -0.7 EV, fill flash at zero, tripod, 80% of full frame, ACR 10.2, Topaz adjust, ON1 dynamic contrast filter, TK sharpening action at 40%

Great eye contact and a beautiful perch with the moss and snow, I wish for a bit more depth of field with the tail facing toward us like it. devil

Excellent detail and exposure, David. The crop is a bit tight, but not bad.  You might be able to ameliorate it a bit by taking a touch off the tail side and adding some overhead.  I had a Towhee popping in the last couple of days, but it was too shy for any shots.

Earlier Dennis posted a photo of a Towhee, and I commented that I have been unable to get a good shot of one. Now I see this one, which is wonderful, and am envious of both of you. I, too, have one in back yard a couple days ago but still could not get a good shot. Really nice image.
