Bluebird

We put up a new nest box about a week ago.  Very next day a couple of bluebirds came and seem to really love their future home, so I told my husband when then left that I thought that they had gone to closing on it.  They have come back a few times since and checked on it, so I think we are going to have a family of "Bluebird Happiness" soon.  This morning, it was very foggy, and one came again just to check, and I was able to capture this shot and a few others.  I have the nest box far enough from the house that they would be comfortable, so with my Canon 5D Mark III, and Canon 300 mm L lens at f2.8, 1/500, ISO 100, on tripod and gimbal head, I shot this through the window.  Cropped this in pretty good to about 45% of the original.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.

A nice looking nest box, Shirley, and a good looking Bluebird.   I like the foggy look.  Out here our Bluebirds start looking in March, then let the swallows take most of them before they finally get around to serious negotiations.

Nice-looking chair bird box with its potential tenant.  Good background to make the bird pop.  Definitely looks better as a larger image.  I have a duck box but the ducks have never used it even though there are quite a few in my area.  It is usually taken over by starlings but I've had to block the entrance to prevent that and sometimes the swallows find it and work their way in despite my efforts.

I really like the moody feel of this Shirley.  It is as if the bluebird is sitting on the balcony surveying her new backyard.  I like this story.
