Golden Ice and Water

The ice is melting from a local pond. The blue is sky reflection and the gold comes from reflection of surrounding hills.
Canon 7D 2; 100/400 at 100; f-16; 1250 ISO; 1/160th sec; 1/ Black, vertical lines are reflections of tree trunks. Added contrast; small cropping.

Very nice find here, Jim. The color combination of blue and gold works beautifully together as does the vertical lines of the tree trunks in the horizontal format. The diagonals in the ice are another great element in the scene. This makes a very nice abstract.

This is fabulous, Jim. I love the curve and colors, but my favorite element is the two densities of ice and the line of water.  I just love the way the reflection changes along the sides of that curve.  Really nicely done.

Very nice abstract, Jim. Love the curve and the trees reflections. This is a subject I really like. I would crop a little bit from the bottom left to make the ice curve matches the lower right corner in order to create more balance.

This is very interesting with the different reflections and textures, and the mix of golds, blacks and blues.  The thinner curve of open water does a great job of separation.  Only suggestion may be to clone out the tiny dark spot in the middle of the upper right ice patch.  Nicely seen.

This is messing with my mind!  Love it!  For some reason, the tones of the blues look a little unnatural to me.  Maybe over saturated or the wrong color blue than I would expect.  Not exactly sure.  Very cool.  Might tone down the tiny, bright trunk reflection on the upper curve of the ice edge.

This is wonderful devil  The liquid gold is mesmerizing.   I can see parking myself at this spot and taking photos at every sky color change, sunrise, blue sky, and sunset!

Your positioning, to get the blue above the apex of the ice arc and the gold below looks great, Jim.  Well seen.

What a great abstract, Jim. The movement of the water, and the band next to the ice where the water was very still is a fine contrast. The ice, and the lovely curve it forms look great. The color and tonality lok real nice.

Very cool! What a great comp, and the colors are gorgeous.  I like everything about this...it is almost one of those abstracts that makes you dizzy when you look at it.
Well done.

A truly excellent abstract, Jim. Although I might be inclined to play with crops and such, the image is extremely solid as presented.......laugh

Lovely patterns, textures and colors. Nicely seen and organized. The blue adds a lot, as do the black tree trunks.
