Oaks and Vernal Pool

I found this nice vernal pool after a rain, near home. While I like the color version, I also like this B&W version. The white tones in the cloud just above the trees on the right gave me a little trouble, but I think It worked out.

Nikon D-7100
Nikkor 16-85 @ 22mm
f-16 @ 1/25, ISO 100
Conversion done using a B&W adjustment layer
TK's masks

Please see the large version. Thanks.

Your thoughts are always appreciated. cool

I really like that this is B/W. The clouds look just fine to me. I think you also included a bird.

Thanks, Jim. It is a Black Phoebe. I have been to this spot many time, and I've seen Mallards, and Canada Geese along with other song birds, and the occasional hawk.

Nicely done, Preston, clouds look fine and tones are dramatic.

Beautiful work Preston. I think the added freedom of expression that b&w provides worked really well here. I used to fish some of the ponds in your area in the early spring. It was delightful.

I like this a lot Preston.  The lighting, reflection, and B&W conversion ad a lot of drama to an already beautiful scene.

Real sweet, Preston. I really like the scene and the B&W works really well. Maybe a slight CCW rotation? Nice work.

Terrific sky and reflection.  An outstanding black-and-white image with superb composition.

Preston,

A little absent lately, but can't go on without commenting that this is outstanding.  I'm sure the color version is great, but the b&w rendition is excellent.  Love this! No nits, excellent job with the b&w conversion.
