This Wilson's Snipe was in the same little pond area as the Virginia Rail I posted a few days ago at the Colusa NWR.  I don't know what it was calling, but it was working really hard at it.  Canon 60D, iso 500, 1/250 sec, f5.6, -1 EV, 100-400 ISLii at 400 mm, 80% of full frame.  Thanks for your critiques and comments.

Well caught in a dense habitat. The calling really makes the picture.

You really nailed the focus on the Snipe, Ed.  Plumage detail is outstanding.  A bit more dof might have helped with the end of the bill, but it looks like you were already pyshing the available light.  If you don't mind messing with the background, you might dim some of the foliage, particularly toward the top as it competes with the head.

This is a good shot catching the open beak.  Tough to do this in such dense plant habitat.  But you pick the right aperture to make it stand out.
