Out for a stroll

Even though there was no real interaction between the Crane and Mallard duck, something about this image appealed to me,so I decided to post it.  It was interesting to watch this area.  There were a lot of birds, but they were all doing their own thing and totally ignoring one another, like a city street.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/8, 1/2500, iso 800, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 13.7 MP.  Some blurring of the upper bg and a few annoyingly bright stems removed.  Taken at 9:38 am on December 12, 2017.  Bosque del Apache NWR.  If I recall correctly, this was at or near Coyote Lookout on the east side of the northern loop.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks,

A cute photo!  Makes we wonder what the 2 different birds might be thinking, or considering the size difference are they just ignoring each other.  Thanks for sharing.

Nice image Dennis! I like the composition. I might suggest toning down the glare of a bit. It might help the birds stand out a bit more. Keep on clickin

That's pretty neat seeing them both on the ice, Dennis. Although there might be no real interaction and they aren't looking right at each other, the two looking into the frame works well. Excellent size comparison.

Interesting. One wonders about the social interaction between species, if any. My thought is it probably varies by season, species, territory and young'ns. Competition for food also. I agree with Ry. Suggest dropping the midtones of the BG by 5 or 6% with a levels command.

Whimsical interaction Dennis, looks as though the crane is treading very gingerly on the ice. I like the comp and techs as posted.devil

Nice implied behavior.  Regardless of the situation it looks pretty cute.  I do agree that in the larger image, highlights adjustment would be beneficial.
