In a way it was a race to get to the next best fishing spot at Bolsa Chica between the cormorants and the pelican.  The pelican seemed to follow where the cormorants went for the most part. Canon 60D, f5.6, 1/2000 sec, iso 400, 100-400 ISlii at 400 mm, cropped to about 60% of original.

Very cool, Ed.  The two nearest birds are both very sharp in the larger version and I like the energetic feel in the image.  My only nit is that it feels a bit crowded on the left-you might want to try adding a bit of canvas on that side.  Excellent job getting this.

Good timing, getting the water splashes, and the pelican and cormorant show nice detail.  Agree with Dennis's thought about adding some canvas on the left for the birds to fly into.

As suggested, I created more canvas on the left ahead of the birds to give them more space to fly into. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nice capture, Ed.  Great detail into both birds that are closest to you.  I thought that about more space, and I see you did that.  It gives them room to fly.  Nice splashes in the water, great detail in the feathers.

Very nice action and captured splashes.  The birds in the background a bit distracting but still works.  I'm hoping to get a shot of a brown pelican at the moment it hits the water!
