Still sorting through the images from Bosque del Apache from December. I was playing with some tight framing when I shot this juvenile and I actually got it a bit too tight, so I added a bit of canvas on the left and top using content aware crop.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, beanbag on car window, f8, 1/1600 iso 800 aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC. Taken at 8:02 am on December 17th, 2017.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis, the framing and exposure look really good on this youngster. The big image shows the bird's tongue nicely. The content aware crop is a great trick that I've used with success, although you may want to fix some of the repetition in the grass at BLHC. Just a thought.

Thanks, Bill. I was processing this just before dinner time yesterday and got in a hurry. Here's a version with that corner cleaned up and a few annoying eye magnets cloned over.

Nice composition and clear view. It looks a bit on the bright side as posted, though, and I'd go a bit darker.

Great crane pic Dennis! Color and contrast on feathers is great and composition is appealing. I would suggest darkening the background a bit to make the bird pop a little more. Keep on clickin!
