Into the thick of experimentation, I had great fun making this photo with a Nikon D750 and the Lensbaby® Velvet56. I hope you'll tell me if it has any appeal. Thanks.

Caveat: Not at all familiar with the new posting sizes… So fingers crossed that it shows well enough.

Am enjoying looking around in the galleries at all your work. Nice to see familiar names as well as new ones.

Catherine, you've got a fine mix of warm color sections here.  I could see this hanging on the wall where someone is trying to create a sense of inviting warmth.  The dark orange triangle in the ulc is intriguing.  It pulls my eyes, which is good in that I'm exploring the entire frame, but may be pulling too much.  I'd test dodging or maybe cloning it to adjust that effect.  A well known issue with the current posting sizes is that if you post to the 1600 px/1 Mb button and let the NPN software create the 720 px there are color shifts and especially loss of detail in the darker areas.  If you post only to the 720 px button, those shifts don't happen.

Catherine, great to see a post from you again, and thank you for your suggestions on my own abstract image. Regarding your image, it looks like you were maybe shooting an orange poppy or other flower? You got an interesting result with the lensbaby, and it is certainly abstract. I like the colors and overall effect, but, for my tastes, when shooting floral abstracts, I prefer some focal point, like a sweeping line or converging lines. Just me. Abstracts are even more subjective than other forms of photography, I think.

You're back!  That makes me happy!

I like the wash of warmth and the lack of sharp details.  There are a couple places that attract my eye, but not too much for me.  The bottom 3rd has a lot of interest without detracting or overpowering the rest.  I like the balance.

Welcome back!

I find this image an easy one to look at.  I also can see this as a large wall print.  Thanks for sharing.

Great to see you posting, Catherine.  I really like the subtle shadings in this image and the softness created by the lensbaby.  My one nit is the diagonal line that crosses the image about a third of the way up.  It tends to stop my eye from moving around the image and lead it off to one side or the other.
