Here's a Purple Martin from Hood Canal, WA photographed this past June.  We had some fun with birds coming in to land at their nesting boxes and circling in flight.  The background is water.

Swinging a 500 f4 by hand is hard work and catching this sort of speedster in flight is never easy with any lens.  Nicely done to get this capture.

An excellent image of this Purple Martin in flight, Nate!  And hand held at 500 mm lens!  Wonderful details and colors.  I appreciate the info you and others shared on the Forum for Brian Murphy.  Many of us can learn from that, I am sure.

Sweet catch, Nate.  I should have spent time omn these instead of the herons.  Detail is superb.  I'm not sure about the dark blue sky-it looks a bit too dark.
