Western Meadowlark (Sturnella neglecta)

Bosque del Apache, NM
Date: December 11, 2017, 12:51 pm
Equipment: Nikon D7200, AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR @ 480mm, bean bag from car window
Exposure: ISO 800, Aperture priority matrix meter, 1/500th @ f/11
Raw, PS CC 2017 on Mac, 79% of full frame

I’m always more interested in the small birds I can find at Bosque del Apache than I am in the masses of cranes and geese. There are often meadowlarks between the Flight Deck and the entrance.

No nits, Richard. As good as it gets. Well, maybe a little cramped at the bottom, but that's speculative. Speculation aside, a sturdy photo.

Beautiful capture, Richard.  They are very colorful birds, and you captured a great pose of him in his environment.  Great detail in the feathers.

Beautiful, Richard.  I saw quite a few Meadowlarks, including some flocks at times, but didn't get close enough for a decent shot.  Detail in the larger image is superb.

I really like the foreground and background in this image as it completes the whole package of this Western Meadowlark.  Wonderful color and detail in the main subject.  I like the three-quarter view pose.  Good job.

Absolutely beautiful.  Perfect composition, and I love the framing with the vegetation.  It's a beautiful background and a beautiful bird.
