This was a later frame from the same day as the last blackbird image. The harrier was a little sharper and more visible here, but going out the wrong way. I liked that the blackbirds were in profile and mostly in the plane of focus, and I thought the beautiful past-peak colors of late fall in the Bosque helped. Full frame with a little tweak in contrast and saturation.

This definitely captures the feel of Bosque. I like the band of rusty color through the middle.

I like the distribution of the blackbirds in flight in this image.  To me it is the variation of the background that makes this photograph work.

I have a similar shot from my recent trip to Bosque, but I think your techs are better than mine.  The individual birds show up well against the nice background.  Its a fantastic sight to see, how this large flock seems to move as one.

Simply wonderful ! I agree with David - the background plays an important part in this great shot ! Well seen and executed. Cheers, Hans

I like this one as well, Bil, though I think the first version is the more effective of the two.  I find I have to really hunt for the harrier in this one.
