WC#818 Crocuses

My favourite from 2017 for two reasons.  First, I especially love this species of early Spring crocus - the tommasinianus -  which grows wild on a patch of grass alongside the car park at my flats; it's commonly known as the early or woodland crocus.  Second, as they are a joy to see in clusters, it's challenging and very satisfying to get a decent shot of a little group.

Ian, I can see why you find this image to be your favorite or at least one of them from this passing year. It is a super macro/closeup of this very colorful and seemingly very delicate floral scene.
As with any floral photographing process the biggest challenge IMO is trying to trip the shutter between cycles of movement. The rest of the process is a bit more basic with regard to all around good macro/closeup techniques being applied. All that seems to have come together perfectly for you during this wonderful photo......laugh

Very lovely, Ian.  I can certainly see why it's your favorite.  The dof works utterly perfectly with this cluster.  I also like the composition with the diagonal formed by the tops of the blooms.

I agree whole heartedly with your enjoyment of this early spring crocus, Ian.  I've got a couple of clumps in my yard and there are great harbingers of spring, often blooming through small amounts of snow.  This is an outstanding view, with it's focus on the bloom in the lower left and the gentle defocus on the remainder of the clump.  Your dof choice looks perfect.

This is a luscious shot! I love the color palate, and I can see that you had to get very low to get this angle.

Superb approach to these flowers.  I like the grouping along with the diagonal approach, and depth of field.  Colors are perfect and the foreground detail really makes the image for me.  Wonderful background ties the whole package together.
