This fine old tree is in the same area as my 'Twists and Turns' image posted a few days ago. I also liked the streaks of late afternoon light on the dry grass.

Preston,

I really like the emerging greens in the grasses in addition to the streaks of light. I might even be tempted to warm it up a bit (the grasses - interesting, you did get the "hay color" in the grasses, but my own tasted wants more golden yellow which might depict the last light of day.

That's one gnarly looking tree - curious why kind of oak species that is.  I do find the tree pretty chaotic - kinda the opposite of your previous image - tree canopy the main interest, but here it's the light on the grasses plus the main tree. And to that, I could see cropping down from the top for less bg sky and also from the left to eliminate the one vertical trunk.  That's an awesome tree with lots of character; I think I'd like to either see more of it, or less(fia the crop) - if that makes sense.

Processed nicely and captures your neck of the woods quite perfectly.

I am on the fence on this one. I think it is the tree left center kind of blocking my progress to the big oak. Nice light and shadow on the grass and good feel of the season.

Preston, you've done a great job separating the oaks from the background forest.  That main tree is amazingly gnarly!

Preston, this majestic old guy sure deserved your time to stop and take this photo. You have to wonder how many people have seen this tree and passed it by with not much thought on it's long term life. If the natural world could share it's personal temperament I'd be interested as to what this old guy had on his mind.....enlightened
The TOD & light was perfect for this photo as well.....laugh

Love the muted colors and the light on the FG grasses. I can see what attracted you to this tree, but to be perfectly honest, I don't care for the two vertical trunks on the left. They kind of block the view. Just MHO.crying
