Whale Blow

I converted this photo to b/w since it held little color information. Initially it looked too abstract, but on closer inspection the form and a bit of the detail of the whale becomes recognizable. Surprisingly (for me), there's detail in the blow as well. Full frame and best viewed large. Nikon D 500 and 80-400 lens at 1/1600, f/6.3 and ISO 400. Richard

What a gorgeous photo i love the black and white. To me the black background with the mist flying sort of looks like the whale is entering a cave. Beautiful

It comes out great with dark blacks and white whites, retaining mid tones.  Well done.
