Another from the same morning as my last post.  This individual gave me lots of opportunities, though most of them has a solid reed background.  I liked this one for the background and the pose.  I'm not sure about the crop.  I do have room on both sides with nothing too obnoxious in the background, so I'm open to suggestions.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 191 mm, handheld lying on the boardwalk, f/7.1, 1/3200, iso 1000 (I wasn't keeping up with the emerging sun), aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC with noise reduction in DxO PhotoLab.  Cropped to 8 MP.  Taken at 9:27 am on March 25th‌ at the Annabelle Turnbull Birding Center, Port Aransas, Texas (The Port Aransas Website indicates that it's still closed due to hurricane damage).

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Wow Dennis. Nice job with the lighting and getting good detail int he blacks without blowing out the white beak. I love the reed mat under it, the look/pose is really cool. I think the crop is fine, but you could try a little less behind and above to see how that works for composition too.

This is really nice; surprised you haven't had more comments.  The detail in the black feathers is very good.  I like the pose.  It's nice to get one out of the water with their yellow legs and large feet.  Well done.

Nice job on the exposure here Dennis, and I like the pose. I think the comp is fine, but if you were to play with it any further I might be tempted to crop a tad from the right to align with the very edge of the top marsh grasses-giving the comp a slight off-set from the right as the bird looks toward the center of the frame. But that's a very picky nit! Cool shot devil
