Here's another image from Taiwan, this was taken at a spot in the mountains of Dasheshuan where these birds are regularly fed corn, so they will come in quite close.  It's an amazingly beautiful bird, in this shot I wanted to show off the intricate, iridescent plumage which is best brought out by using fill flash.
Canon 1DX II, 500F4 1/100 F7.1, iso 1250, fill flash at -2.0

The fill flash did it's job, Nate.  Beautiful plumage.  The bright blob on the right edge is a bit of a distraction.

Whoa! What a Beauty he is!!!

The large version is a must see. Those iridescent feathers are awesome. Excellent work with the flash.

Sweet One Nate laugh

Wonderful detail on a beautiful bird.  The fill flash did its job. This is a bird I would love to photograph some day!

Cool head shot portrait Nate-the flash brought out the beautiful colors of this pheasant nicely.

Good job bringing out the detail and color in the plumage on this one.  My guess is if they are fed corn they are also used as a food source.  And they are quite beautiful.

Thanks for your comments everyone.  David, I don't think so this is in a protected forest reserve.
