A common bird back east, but for me this was a life bird on a trip to NY/NJ last year.

Good exposure and solid composition. Nice position for the cardinal with a good head profile.

A nice look at this Cardinal. Good job on the color without overdoing it.

Nice pose, Allen, and the fence picket makes a good perch. I like the bg.

I love this, and am so glad you got a life bird. Even though Northern Cardinals are common here they're not easy to get shots of, because they're almost always flying from place to place, especially if you get anywhere near them. I have been in my car and carefully lifted up my camera and they have seen my movement and flown away. The colors here are perfect.

Allen, this is a nice capture, and glad you got to check a life bird off the list. Exposure, detail and background are all nice. I like the fence post perch as well, it's different than a lot of perches we see. My only critique is that you have some masking brush stroke remnants on the crest which could easily be cleaned up.
