Size matters and color, too!  Taken at the San Antonio Zoo, while evacuating from Hurricaine Harvey.  This was a very patient mother, who seems to feel "resigned"angel to (and very tired with) her chick's demands for food...Look at the expression in her eye and face!

I, especially, liked the short, fat/ tall, skinny shadow on the ground!

Lucy, the colors look great, the shadows add well and your crop emphasizes the tallness of the birds.  I think that cutting off mom's backside works well here because including all of mom would make this extremely long and skinny and it would reduce the emphasis on the feeding action.
