Posing Nicely

I took this Snow Monkey in Japan a couple of years ago, posing nicely on a rock in a thermal pool.  I have not cropped this image.   It is my understanding that the place is more regulated now due to its popularity with both photographers and regular tourists.  I wonder if there is still access to the small area on the same level as the pool to get these low-angle close-ups. Canon 70D with Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS E USM lens at 150mm, manual exposure f/8 @ 1/200th, remote flash at approximately 90-degrees from lens.

Beautiful light on the monkey's face. Beautiful expression that he has. Well done.

Charles, I love these Snow Monkeys, and this is a great capture. His pose is very nice, and the soft light works very well with this image. My only nit is that the bottom feels a little tight, but that is really minor considering the capture of the monkey.

The pose is great, Charles.  The clarity on the monkey is also great.  The background shows enough detail for a good sense of place as it's soft enough to not be distracting.  I would suggest cloning out that bit protruding from the edge just under it's tail

Cool pose, cool subject. Great low perspective. I agree with possibly removing the spot on the bottom edge, otherwise great shot.

Cool frame & great setting!
As suggested, a touch more room at the botton wold help.

Oh my goodness! I'm jealous! What a beautiful shot, Charles! The colours on the monkey contrast so well against the greys of the surroundings. Great lighting, great fur detail, and the monkey looking up - divine! devil

Super nice, Charles.  I agree with a touch of space at bottom would have been nice if you need a framed presentation.
