I just returned from a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway & GSMNP.  Here is an image that I captured from the parkway.  I had setup for sunset at this spot when seemingly from out of nowhere clouds and later fog rolled in so I pulled out the telephoto and started shooting detail shots.  This is my favorite image from this trip.  The color palette and the mood created from the fog in the background are very appealing to me.  I hope you enjoy it!

Brian,

I can see why this might be your favorite.  What a fabulous collection of color!  The fog up top really ices the mood and atmosphere. And what a difference the large view makes! Also great job making use of the longer lens and isolating this intimate fall scene.

Maybe we're just a bunch of anti-cyan critics around here.... and maybe it's just me this time.  (I am on a brand new monitor btw,) but is the fog up top just a little on the cyan side? If it is, it's very minor and almost not worth mentioning. In the category of a minor tweak, if any.

Otherwise, great capture and vision to capture this one.

Lon

Beautiful blast of color! This is great. Funny, I am known as the anti-cyan guy and the fog looks fine to my eye. It is nice and subtle and works for me. Go figure.

Brian, This is a wonderful fall scene. Your comp works great and I like the distant trees and fog across the top. The colors are really nice and it makes me think of the U.P. The fog looks fine to me as well. The larger version is especially nice. Good work on this!

That "V" of colorful trees looks great and works very well as a comp. Brian.  The fog adds nicely to the atmoshpere even as it focuses attention on the foreground hillside.  Nicely seen.

Great shot, Brian. The fog is a touch cyan, but still looks fine to me because I love a mixture of cool and warm tones in a image.

Beautiful shot, Brian.  I love the fall colors, and I live in NC, but rarely get up in that area to photograph those beautiful fall leaves.  One of these days.  Fog looks fine to me too.

Love the tele compression of this scene, Brian.  The colors and fog are the players, but it is the scene we don’t see even though it is right in front of us. Very nice.

Brian, this is really nice. I was up in New Hampshire and Vermont Columbus Day Sunday to Wednesday, and didn't find this much color anywhere. Most trees were rusty orange to brown, and some places had a few trees of vibrant color here and there. It was really disappointing, so I'm glad to see some great fall color here!

Good eye to catch this V of colorful trees. The processing looks very natural, and the fog looks good to me. I like the layering that the fog provides, but I'm not sure about that blank area in the URC. A great shot none the less.

Hello Brian.  Nice mood and color in this.  A thought would be to select the trees and add 2 points of mid-tone contrast and 2 points of brightness, and see if that fits your vision on this scene.  Saturation looks good.  Fog looks good too.

This scene contains a beautiful palette of fall colors and the fog provides some wonderful atmospherics, Brian. The telephoto has isolated this section of color very nicely. My only suggestion; and this is being very picky; would be to crop or try to clone in some trees in the URC. Not a deal breaker obviously as this is lovely as is.
