Blakiston's Fish-owl

The Blakiston's Fish-owl lives in northern Japan and Russia.  It is the world's largest owl and is classified as Endangered by IUCN  I photographed this one at Rausu in Hokkaido in 2015.  It came in the evening to find fish "salted" in a small pond to take to its mate upstream.  The lighting was a fast-paced strobe that appeared to the eye as constant but acted like a flash.  I debated about posting it here or in "Man & Nature" as it was feeding on fish placed where it could find them, but since it was a wild bird, I chose to post it here.  Canon EOS 6D, Canon EF500mm f/4L IS II USM, manual exposure f/4 @ 1/80th, ISO 3200.

I don't know how this got missed. It is an excellent shot with good detail. I don't care if the fish were "salted" as long as you reveal it.cool
