This bee busy working to get the nectar from this straw flower this fall. I think the yellow flower makes for a good background for the bee. I think he has some good sharpness to him as I know that is always key in this gallery.

A well balanced center comp. I think you could have gotten more DOF with a higher ISO, maybe 400, and a smaller focal opening, say f /7.1 or f /8.

Nice macro Norma! Everything's in focus that should be and good composition. Might lighten up the bee a little bit to make hiim stand out. Keep up the good work

Norma, this is a beautiful look at this bee and it's colorful perch.  Your square crop fits the scene very well.  The bee's wings are nice and sharp.  It's head and the flower parts are going soft, but that's always a problem in macro work.  As Phil suggests, a higher f/stop would help a bit, but you'd probably need to go to something like f/16 to get even the bee's head sharp.  I think about the dof and whether it works by imagining the image as hanging on a wall, if the lack of sharpness or where the sharp areas are is a distraction, then I missed, if I don't notice the blur then it's fine.  In this case, I think the sharp look at the wings with the nice highlights set against the large regions of color let the image work as presented.

Hi Norma,
A little more DOF is all that this image needs.  Square comp is nice and the image has a pleasing color scheme...................Jim
