Northern Flicker

I took this yesterday morning.  My Japanese maple tree in the background is just glowing in the morning sun and I had to take measures to cut back the natural saturation.  This is a 50 % crop.

Iso 1000, 600 mm,f10, 250th, -1.7 EV, fill flash at -1, D850, tripod, topaz Adjust, TK sharpening action at 40%

Lovely, well made photo. The D850 is doing some awesome work for you.

You know Phil you are correct.  The D850 even has a button next to the shutter  labeled "COMP"  which automatically corrects the image to follow the rule of thirds after you have pressed the shutter.  Let's see if Canon can top that!

David,

I believe this might be the most incredible image of a flicker I've seen. Dang it please stop posting photographs from the D850, I had convinced myself that I was set for several years with using my D750 for full frame stuff and my D500 for wildlife shots. Never the less thanks for posting it. devil

Beautiful, David.  I love the bg, and you got a very nice pose from the flicker.  My only nit is the left branch that's rather oof.  I'd be tempted to remove it.

Nice image David. I like the head turn and I really like the BG. I also agree with Dennis and think it would be even more improved if you cloned outt he OOF branch on the left. But it still works either way.

Really cool Flicker shot David. I especially like the red color in the background. It really sets off the pose of the bird nicely. Outstanding detail in the Flicker and the perch.
