Rocking It On The Beach

These Sea Lions were hauled up on this big rock and just making like a rock concert!  One would start roaring and the others would start chiming in.  Pretty soon it was a raucous a cappella chorus with tons of very deep bass!  I took lots of photos, of course, but I liked this one in particular because the one in the background appeared to be rocking to the music cool  I took some 4K videos too (with killer sound) but will have to compress them before I could post them anywhere (except maybe YouTube).  I've never posted anything on YouTube before but this might be the time to give it a try.  These guys were feeding on salmon at the hatchery so I was able to get extremely close.  In fact I walked down to the beach initially with my 100-400 lens and had to go back and get my 16-70. The specs will give you some idea.

Sony a6500, SE-1670Z @ 36mm, ISO-400, f/8.0, 1/640, hand held, no crop.

Hi Gary,

These sea lions are having a great time.  The poses are good and I especially like the one sea lion above the 3 foreground bulls. Well done.....................Jim

Another great shot Gary! Try to brighten see lions a bit to create some contrast with the surroundings. Keep up the good work

Gary, I sure like how the details in the Sea Lions and the rock that they're sitting stand out so nicely in the larger view.  Looks like your day at the Seal Lion gathering paid of very well.

Terrific.  I like the composition, the lighting, the color saturation and the implied action.
