After looking at Lon's black and white of this waterfall, I decided to convert my original
color image. Additionally, based upon a suggestion by Igor in his comment on the color version, I cropped the bottom a bit so as to put more emphasis on the rock and falling water. I also did a bit of dodging and burning on the black and white.

8 commentsHey Preston, glad to see that you worked this in b&w. Great call! This came out wonderfully. I agree with both Dave and Gary in there comments. I think the tonal range is excellent and I like the difference in tone in the granite on either side of the cascade. And the shutter speed is still working. ;-)
What my eye is really drawn to is the "dripping" that I think Gary might be referring to, and that is the water coming off the overhang in the lower right of the frame. Very cool.
Processing is excellent and I have no nits or suggestions!

This one looks pretty good. Water drips are awesome
this is a lovely intimate waterfall scene, Preston. The B&W processing is superb for the wide range of tones and the crop places the emphasis on the water slicing through the rock along with that swirling around the bottom. Great work here.
