Gentle Ox + repost

This fall I decided to return to the Tetons for a week as it had been several years since my last two day visit, and also there were reports of muted colors in the San Juan mountains of Colorado.  One of the goals of this trip, besides photographing moose, was to redo my previous shot of Oxbow Bend.  The second morning in the park dawned with a clear view of snow-covered Moran with the pastel colors of the earth shadow.

Wow!  This is so gorgeous, Doug.  The large version is especially nice.  I love the gentle pastel coloration.  Excellent photography.  No nits from me.

Gorgeous, Doug. Love the clean composition and soft, delicate pastel colors. I think I would play a bit with the line of trees in the center right. I think they would benefit from a slight boost in contrast. Really fine image.

Love this Doug.  I've been particularly intrigued by earth shadow images lately.  This is exceptional.  You could pump this up color wise, but I really like the processing here.  Hope you got some good moose images too.  Very nice.

I saw this on FB and loved it Doug.  The muted, delicate color makes this a winner for me.

Doug,

The pastels you've captured here are just beautiful - add those to an iconic location and you've got a real winner.  You also couldn't have asked for a better arrangement of clouds.  This is just gorgeous - sorry, being redundant.

My suggestions are just that, suggestions.  Not to "fix" anything, but to tweak it just a tad.  Of course it's your personal choice and vision, so take this as it is.  And my thoughts are not new!  Just going to agree that you could bump the contrast (tweak) in the tree line and actually maybe throughout (we're talking a smidge.)  Color/sat of the earth shadow colors - to taste; beautiful as is, room for personal interpretation without leaving reality.

Only been there once, but every image brings me back there.  Well done!

Very fine image with beautiful colors and reflections. I might lower the exposure on those snowy peaks a tad as their impact is not felt enough. I would process them to be a bit more prominent.

Looks like you nailed the timing for this.  Nice peaceful morning and conditions look about peak to me.  Like the softness that the colors low contrast time of day.  Not sure how to improve on this.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Made some gentle tweaks- selected and brightened the mountain, selected the trees and added a few points of contrast and brightness, and added a few points of saturation overall.

All up to personal taste but i find the repost an improvement. Retains that delicate quality while adding just a touch more punch.

I really like the soft pastel light in this.  I remember some of your White Pocket images that had the same quality about them.  This is just wonderful to view!
