Friendly Sandhill Crane

I believe that I posted this one in  Man & Fauna as the most logical gallery.  There's a park not too far from where I live that has a bunch of very friendly animals including a trio of sandhill cranes. This one kept coming in closer to me and was about 15 feet away from where I was standing.  I kept moving back to get the entire head in the frame. Needless to say, I added some space on the right as the tip of the bill was almost snug up against the edge of the frame. After the picture was taken we walked down the trail together with the crane at about 3 feet from me much like a trained dog.  My guess is that it had been fed by park visitors and associated humans with a free meal.  K5 IIs 600 mm f5.6 (1/160 sec at f8.0, Iso 400).  Shadows & Highlights, Topaz Detail, and added canvas on the right................................Jim

Wonderful portrait of this crane, Jim.  Great colors and detail, and a lovely out of focus background.
