This was an image I had not looked at for almost a year. Thought I will post it for the magial color on the face of the DF, with the hazy wings oof in teh bg ...
Do let me know honestly ...what you feel of this image. I know there are some standard rules for a macro ...its just that i looked at it differently...

This is a long legged marsh glider

I like this a lot..  Might brighten the image a little bit to bring in some of the details of the face. Nice composition and background blur adds to the image in my opinion

cool view.  love the eyes.  Reducing shadows on face would help a lot and increasing clarity on face.

The color is indeed magical. Amazing the variation of colors between eyes, face, clypeus and mandibles. I also really like the treatment of the BG wings and colors. I only wish the face was a bit sharper.

Balan, the details and colors in the eyes are great.  The rest of the image tells the viewer what the critter is, so it's being somewhat oof seems fine to me.  My opinion is that there are no rules in photography (or in art) only guidelines that work well much of the time.  New ideas and approaches occur because someone ignores the guidelines and creates something wonderful.

Hi Balan,

The eyes are nice and sharp with well defined facets.  For me, I would like to also have the entire head nice and sharp.  However, artistically, I think you nailed this one as the colors help pull the observer's eye into those compound eyes of the dragonfly. Well done.................Jim

Magical indeed.  I actually really like the OOF-ness of the rest of the image and would only wish for a little more sharpness in the entire face.
