Not a spider web, but a web nonetheless.  I took this image a couple of years ago and posted it in the Avian Gallery at that time.  This is just a duplicate of that post without any reprocessing except to re-export it from the tif file in LR CC.  I liked the way this Chickadee looked like he was looking over the selection.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 562 mm, I think this was hand held, but don't recall for sure, f/8, 1/1000, iso 640, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6 at the time.  Cropped to 13.6 MP before resizing.  Taken at 6:40 am on July 29, 2015 at Thurston County Glacial Heritage Nature Preserve, Thurston County, WA.

Please view the larger image if possible.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis, I had to go to the larger view to see the webbing and notice a few scattered caterpillars.  Did the Chickadee try to catch any of the caterpillars?  It's a good looking image, with nice light and fine colors.

Mark.  I never saw it actually take one of the caterpillars.  I do remember one year before I was into bird photography when we had a very severe outbreak of these and I saw Cedar Waxwings going after them.

Those Chickadee eyes look a bit bulged out here Dennis. What a smorgasbord. The caterpillars have really wreaked havoc on the leaves too. Very interesting shot.
