Great Blue

I took this in late afternoon at Assateague NWR in VA a couple weeks ago, using my Canon Mark II with Canon 100-400 mm L lens at 400 mm, hand held.  Settings were 1/1500, f6.7, ISO 400. Just basic editing in LR and PS, and cropped at 60% of full frame.  I liked that the wind was blowing his feathers up on the back of his head, making it a "bad hair day" image.  Comments and suggestions welcome.

This is anice image of a typical scene there. Very natural, with good detail and exposure.

Shouldn't that be Chincoteague NWR? Assateague is the name of the national seashore, isn't it ? I made a number of autumn visits to Chincoteague when I lived in NJ so many years ago.

I think it can be called either one.  I was actually on Assateague Island at the time, not far from the seashore.  Lots of wading birds, etc. are there on the island.  Chincoteague Island actually has a town there, as I am sure you recall.  it is a wonderful place to visit.  You never know what kind of wildlife will show up for you to photograph, but you can pretty much count on quite a few and a good variety.  For those that might be interested, here is a link to view.  http://www.assateagueisland.com/wildlife/wildlife.htm

Nice pose, Shirley and it certainly does look disheveled.  Exposure and focus look excellent.
