Must have been some excellent fishing there to have this many so close to one another, Peter.  An interesting scene.  I like the placement of the on Great Egret in the lower right, but wish it had given you a bitter head turn to make a more definitive focal point for the image.

Peter, the -2/3 exposure in early light was a good choice. This is a nice flock in their feeding grounds, Peter. I've tried similar groups like this only once at much longer focal length (mayhem compared to your cleaner comp), so it's good you were able to zoom out to include the pretty environment.

Peter, I love the environment here.  This is indeed a cleaner image than most shots like this.  In the smaller version the grasses don't look defined enough, but in the larger version they do.

Wonderful image.  Exposure is spot on.  Shows environment very nicely. There is what appears to be a much smaller bird lower middle that looks to be a mature bird. A bit confusing to me because the younger, smaller ones I have seen look different that older ones. Are there lesser and greated egrets?

Hi
Thanks for the comments.  I believe there are both Snowy and Great Egrets at the pond.  This the largest grouping of Egrets I have ever seen in Hammonasset Beach State Park.
