There are huge crocodiles on the Zambezi River in Zambia. When we tried to approach them head on, they would spot us from quite a distance and dive into the river. We tried a different tactic of staying on the far side of the river, motoring above the croc and motoring across to its side. Once across, the motor was cut and we drifted down to the croc  which worked well. In this case, the croc didn't notice us until the very last second when a back current took us into the bank and startled it. As it jumped into the river, I managed to squeeze off a few shots. Nikon D 500 and 80-400 lens at 1/2000, f/8 and ISO 1400. Richard

That is about as much excitement as one can take with a huge croc. Glad you made it out alive Richard. Fun story and photo to document it.

Now those are teeth! Nice shot is the reward for jeopardizing your life and limb! Too bad the railing is in the shot. It blocks the flow of the shot, however I think you appreciated its value at the time! Keeo up the good work! Ry

Ry: actually I think the boat railing tells the story about just how close the croc was to the boat. Without the railing, it's a good crocodile photo. Richard
