Compression Stroke

I really liked this shot of a fast flapping juvenile male Mallard because the blurred wing tips and water spray really emphasize the force of his forward stroke.  It's particularly impressive when you know that the shutter speed was 1/2500.  The large file puts you a lot closer.

Sony a6500, FE100400GM + 1.4 TC @ 560 mm, ISO-400, f/8.0, 1/2500, hand held.

Love the action, especially the spray from the wings.  The larger version is impressive.  Seems somewhat dark overall?

Nice composition and well framed.  Good color and detail and the motion in the wingtips works very well with this.  I like the fact that the water splash follows the shape of the wings.  Nice job.

I love the spray from the wing stroke, Gary.  It really conveys the power of it.  Excellent detail and exposure.  Very well done.
