Blasted trees point away from Mount St. Helens. The sky was filled with smoke from the several wildfires.

Three Raw exposures for DOF, hand blended in PSCC, processed in LRCC. TK resize/sharpening for web.
Canon 80D, 1/60 s, f/8, ISO 200, EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5 @ 16 mm, CPL.

Ronald,

Pointers and leading lines a plenty here.  Excellent comp leading the eye in to the frame.  And having the lone "new" pine as the end point holds the comp together.  The gray smokey sky helps tell this story, but doesn't get many marks for beauty. ;-)  I think you've captured and presented an excellent story of the aftermath and rebirth of the Mt. St. Helens  event.  Well seen!

Ronald, the details in the fallen trees, especially the main one, and how they point to the young tree on the horizon looks great.  There's a starkness that's emphasized by the white sky.  I am wondering how a subtle warming of the grasses would look?

Interesting composition, Ronald. The down trees point nicely to the young fir, showing well the rebirth. I agree with Mark about warming the yellows a bit. Well seen.

Love that title! cool

The flow of the lines is nicely focused Ronald. This does show the mix of death and life, and I like the story it tells. I'd love it if St. Helens was visible in the background too, but know that's not always easy.

Lots of stuff going on here. Leading lines, diagonals, textures, muted colors. Nice work.
