Falls Creek Falls

On level 3 evacuation from my home in Corbett OR while the Columbia Gorge is on fire.  This stream is on the Washington side.  The shape of the mist reminds me of a firecracker, but then again, no.

Daniel: Love the light and the atmospherics and hoping that is mist and not smoke. Beautiful image and hoping the fires subside quickly.>=))>

Beautiful waterfall, Daniel. The light is gorgeous, and you handled it well.. You might consider darkening the blue in the sky just a bit, but this looks nice as is.

Stay safe!

Beautiful falls and fine image of it. The color version works great, but might be fun to experiment with a B&W treatment. Real nicely done.

Hope all turns out well for your safety and your property!!

This is very different than your usual images. The subject is the same but the richly saturated greens are missing. I think this works well for what you're trying to say. I find the 2 sunlit, and therefore more colorful, mounds at the bottom to be distracting. Particularly the one on the right. Perhaps dropping their exposure would help. A crop is not a solution because it would eliminate the splash zone at the bottom of falls. I would probably darken the left and clone out the right one.

Daniel,

Yikes, I hope your home, family and neighbors are safe!  The hurricanes and aftermath are of course terrible, but it's also shameful how the fires in the west pretty much get zero coverage elsewhere.  Anyway, hope you're save.

Love this image. There is a lovely glow to this and great atmosphere.  The sun star is a nice touch; not domineering, but providing some beautiful lighting.

I'm a bit with Igor on the mounds at the bottom.  Not so much on the left as the greens contribute to the scene. But at minimum I think I would burn that down quite a bit.

Other than that, this image has a dreamy quality that is makes this work beautifully.  And I never even mentioned the falls...  ;-)

Lovely photo of the falls, The FG is what it is here, the falls are worth it.
Hope all is well with the home front, I have really good friends also evacuated near Latourel that are just getting back in and escaped any damage for now...
The Gorge may never be the same in our lifetimes. Eagle Creek could be unaccessible for years.
For those familiar with the Columbia Gorge, access to Punchbowl, Metlako falls, god forbid, McCord creek is gone (Elowah falls), all the trails around Wahkeena, etc.
It sucks....

I too hope all goes well with these fires Daniel; good idea to go play on the other side for awhile.

This is very nice!! It's hard to convey just how big these falls are, and this does a great job of including both. I agree about darkening those lower corners.

Love the light and mist Daniel.  A lot of action to take in but it is a fabulous scene.

Fantastic, Daniel.  The conditions here really make for an impactful image.
