Sony A77II
Sony 70-400G @ 105mm
ISO 800, 1/400 @ f9

One of the highlights of our trip to Alaska was a flight over Denali. We were able to take the doors off the plane for unobstructed views. It was cold and I had to hand hold the lens thus the high ISO to get some shutter speed. I was also wearing glove liners which made operating the controls a bit imprecise and with some of the jostling around in the plane I ended up with some weird settings. So it goes. We did get a view of Denali which I'll post later but I really liked the fall colors, textures and land forms of the mountains encountered on the outbound ride. All comments welcome.>=))>

You've got a fine mix of colors and shapes here, Bill.  I like the transition to snow and the emphasis on the single ridge.

Ariel shots can be very cool, and this no exception. I like the transition from timberline to alpine, and the fall color. I really like the strata in the central ridge, but I wish there was more of it. Nice color and lots of interesting textures.

A great abstract look at a grand scene. And under tough conditions. Real nicely done.

Bill,

The large view is simply awesome!  Aside from colors, shapes and comments so far, I find the light to be fascinating.  I can't tell if it's direct sun, highly diffused and with very few shadows to give us clues.  But there's a soft, warm glow to the entire mountain side.  Very cool.

Minor suggestion for me might be to reduce the cyan in the mid tones - specifically in the "green" forest.  Also, there's a small white-ish patch in the LLC I would clone out. The same near the LRC, a longer streak, but that's less of an issue. Can't tell if that's snow, or creek and run-off.

Sounds like great fun flying around the mountains and getting photo ops like this one.  Great job.

I think this is lovely Bill!! What a wonderful mix of colors, and the "grand" abstract is perfect. No nits.

I sure do like the color tones and the contrast you chose. The only nit from me, and very very tiny, might be the small grey spot in the LLC.
