Snipe Hunt

I've posted some other images of this bird taken at Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas, but I liked the foraging pose.  I used Topaz Detail on the Snipe to bring out the feather textures and reduced brightness and saturation on the bg a bit to help separate the bird more from the bg or it really would have been a snipe hunt.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 388 mm, hand held lying prone on the boardwalk, f/7.1, 1/160, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped slightly from the top and left for composition (17 MP before resizing).  Taken at 8:59 am on March 25th, 2017.

Your critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Now I see what I hunted for many years ago!  Interesting image, I like the action pose.  To me it looks just a little bit light.  TFS.

I like this as presented. Always fun to find one of these hiding in plain sight. Processing ooks good.

Dennis: really nice to see how this bird forages. The techs (and how you've separated the bird from the b/g) are spot on. Richard

Nice detail on the bird, Dennis, and great eye contact. A bit of a shame its most distinctive feature is mostly buried, but it's doing what it does best. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done Dennis!  Your post processing really separates the bird from the background.  I like the low angle and detail.

Of the two Snipe images you posted, I prefer this one because of the action in this photo.  Superb detail on the plumage.
