Late summer brings out meadowhawks and the males typically have spectacular colors.  This is a male ruby meadowhawk which has a yellowish face, dark legs, and a bright scarlet abdomen. I pulled out a slight yellow cast which dramatically improved the image. K5 IIs 180 mm f3.5 (1/100 sec at f16, Iso 500) fill flash -2.33ev Levels, Hue & Saturation.................................Jim

Wonderful color and detail in this little guy, Jim.  You did a great job and keeping the camera in line with the subject so that he is sharp all the way from head to tail.

A great look at the Ruby Meadowhawk, Jim.  I saw our first one on a nature walk that I lead yesterday.  You're comp. works very well and the details and colors are excellent.  The colors look very natural.
