Farewell

My trip to Texas this last spring wasn't specifically for the Whooping Cranes, so I timed it a little late for them and this frame is from the last time I saw them, though I heard they hung around a little longer.  I cropped a bit off the top of this one mostly because the other adult was in the lead of the family and its oof primaries were dangling into the top of the frame.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 562 mm, hand held, f/8, 1/2500, iso 640, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 16 MP, mostly off the top.  Taken at 6:31 pm on March 24th.

Your critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

So glad that you were able to get a shot of teh Whooping Cranes.  Like sweet light on them, and the action of them taking off.  You did a really nice job at getting both of them sharp in focus.  The angle of the shot looks like their wings are touching.  Nicely done, Dennis.

Well taken Dennis!  I am impressed with the sharpness and clarity.  I like the action pose, you can almost hear them taking off.
Thanks for sharing.

Really nice Dennis. This shot really brings home just how large the wingspan is on these guys. Well done.

I really like the color balance and the light in this Crane image.  Very nice wing position.  I think I would like to see a little more room on the left and right.

Hi Dennis
It is nice to see birds like these Whooping Cranes.  You did a good job with the whites and the photo show good detail.
