As a public health nurse, this terrifies me.
Why? Not because the moth is sipping from the can . Bugs and snakes don't bother me at all, and Africa is full of them. .

This one can of "Berry Breeze" is 736 calories! Pure sugar, which is why the moth loves it - nectar.
In Mexico and Africa, especially, they add gobs of sugar to everything, and they call it ENERGY rather than CALORIES.  EEEK

Our diet in the US is often poor, but it is terrible there.

Hi Sandy,

Sugar in solution is nectar to these guys.  As an entomologist, I like this shot. A good natural history shot of a sphinx moth getting some carbs. Well done...........................Jim
