Whooping Crane

One of the same birds as in my last post.  I'm not sure why this pair weren't wearing the big ugly identification bands on their upper legs that nearly all the Whoopers have, but I was grateful for it photographically.  I really liked this pose and the ruffled feathers from the wind coming up its back.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/7.1, 1/1250, iso 800, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped from the right and lightly in the vertical direction.  There was also a band of bright sky at the top that was very distracting so I removed in and used content aware fill to replace it.  Taken at 6:43 pm on March 23rd, 2017.

Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

A nice stately pose with good detail and good foreground/background blurring.

Another great catch. Love the walking pose and the light is awesome ! Would make for a nice landscape-style cut as well ! Cheers, Hans

Terrific light on this one and I like the way it contrasts with the grasses surrounding it.  Superb composition.

Another great image of these rarities, Dennis. I really like the details you got on the white plumage in the nice light. I also like dynamic pose.
