Goldenrod Soldier Beetles

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted August 17, 2017235 views7 comments

Goldenrod soldier beetles (Chauliognathus pensylvanicus ) on wild carrot. There's a reason implied in this image that explains why this is a very common species enlightened

. I photographed this in-copulo pair in a shady spot as the sun was going down. K5 IIs, 180 mm f3.5 (1/20 sec at f14, Iso 500 + -1.33 ev fill flash with home-made concave diffuser) Levels, shadows & highlights, brightness & contrast...............................Jim

My first thought was "love bugs", Jim. sad

It's a great look at these two in a very inviting environment.

And my daughter always accuses ME of being the only ones to find critters having sex.... you found them in great light on really pretty and interesting flowers. This has a nice flow to the BG flowers that add to the appeal of the main subjects.

Outstanding, Jim. Both the comp and the execution. Kudos for getting both "lovebugs' in focus and the nice bg. devil
